Every Parent Can Help – In Big or Small Ways
No matter your schedule or experience, there’s a way for you to support the band. Whether it’s a small task or a big job, your time and skills make a real difference. There’s a place for everyone and together, we make it all possible.
So Your Student’s in Band – Here’s What the Year Looks Like

Summer – Band Camp (June – August)
- 2 weeks in late July
- Donations needed – Water and snacks
- Volunteers needed – Snack distribution
- Other opportunities such as building props could be available based on show needs
- Athletic Clearance – Every students must be cleared prior to band camp
- Camp Supplies – These items sets everyone for success:
- Sunglasses
- Hat (wide brimmed or baseball cap)
- Athletic/flexible clothing (no jeans)
- Really good options are available in the spirit store
- Keep a modest dress code in mind. Sun health over looking “cute!”
- Socks
- Extra pair recommended, in case of inclement weather, no one likes wet socks while marching.
- Athletic shoes
- No Crocs or sandals
- Water jug (half gallon)
- Labeled
- Great option available in the spirit store
- Sunscreen (SPF 30 or above)
- Extra valve oil/grease/reeds
- Bug spray
- Deodorant
- Folder, pencil/pen, and highlighter
- Preview performance on final Friday of camp, we encourage all to attend.

Fall – Marching Band Season (August – December)
- Rehearsals are 2x per week
- Donate – Snacks
- Football Games
- Friday nights – we perform at every home game and most away games
- Volunteers needed – Concessions / Bus Chaperones (away games)
- Friday nights – we perform at every home game and most away games
- Competitions
- Saturdays – we travel from LBV to competitions
- Volunteers needed – Load/Set Equipment / Bus Chaperones / Snack & Water distribution
- If you’re not willing to travel with the band, please assist in loading and unloading trucks at LBV
- Volunteers needed – Load/Set Equipment / Bus Chaperones / Snack & Water distribution
- Saturdays – we travel from LBV to competitions
- Bands of America
- Typically in early December – this is a HUGE fundraiser for our program
- Concert – Seasonal Celebration
- This is a ticketed fundraiser for our program
- Volunteers needed – Concessions / Ushers / Ticket check-in
- Concession Stand
- Friday nights for all LBV home games
- Volunteers needed!
- Friday nights for all LBV home games

Winter – Music Assessments & Competitive Circuits (January – March)
- MPA (Music Performance Assessment)
- Concert, symphonic, wind and jazz ensembles, and soloists
- Schedule varies
- These performances are free, we encourage you to attend to cheer for your student(s)
- Volunteers needed – Bus Chaperones
- Concert, symphonic, wind and jazz ensembles, and soloists
- Competitions – Winter Percussion
- Saturdays – We travel from LBV to competitions
- Volunteers needed – Load/Unload Equipment / Bus Chaperones / Snack & Water distribution
- Saturdays – We travel from LBV to competitions

Spring – Concerts and Celebrations (March – May)
- Concert – Jazz Under the Stars
- This is a ticketed fundraiser for our program
- Volunteers needed – Concessions / Ushers / Ticket check-in
- Concert – Spring Concert
- This is a ticketed fundraiser for our program
- Volunteers needed – Concessions / Ushers / Ticket check-in
- Band Banquet – Celebrate the school year in style as we recognize students through awards and cherished memories!
- This is a ticketed event
- Volunteers needed – Event setup/clean up, Decorating/theming
- Concession stand
- Schedule varies – we support Track & Field and Flag Football
- Volunteers needed!
