LBV Band Camp – Week 2

Hello Viper Vanguard Family!

I am glad to report that the kids had an EXCEPTIONAL first week of camp last week! We were able to move quickly and put 20 charts of drill on the field, made great strides on music, and had many opportunities to bond and get to know each other. I look forward to more progress this second week, as we look to have almost half of the show drill taught if things work well this week.

A few notes about the week:

LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION- We will be sending the band down to the media center in shifts over the next couple days. All students should have their laptop by Wednesday at the latest.

STRIKE ZONE- Students registered for strike zone will be allowed to participate (incoming freshman). THE START TIME FOR THURSDAY (day of strike zone) IS 9AM instead of 8am. This is for all members.

T-Shirts- We have ordered the uniform shirts for this year and each member will get both a blue and a red shirt like last year. It is likely our new shirts won’t arrive this week, so we will provide shirts for new members to wear for both strike zone and the preview from last year.

SIGN UP GENIUS- Still some spots available for snack breaks this week. Please consider helping out if you can! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054AA4A82FABF58-50358794-lbvband#/

PARENT MEETING- Friday before our preview show, at 6:00pm in the auditorium. After our meeting, we will proceed to the practice lot to watch the preview performance of the Viper Vanguard’s 2024 Competition show!! In the event of inclement weather, we will move the performance indoors.

FAIR SHARE- Families able to pay fair share can do so now in full or in installments. Fundraising opportunities will be discussed at the meeting but it is an expectation that the fair share is paid or raised by each member.  The year fair share is $400. FS can be paid on schoolpay or cash can be given to me and I will provide a receipt. Fair share helps us pay our staff (they don’t get paid until we have the money to do so), festival fees, transportation costs, t-shirts, marching shoes, uniform upkeep, MPA assessments and more.  If you do pay on school pay, feel free to send me the electronic receipt so I can keep track of your account.

TRANSITION TO TALKING POINTS- Once we begin the school year you will receive a lot of brief updates from me via talking points. I know MANY of you were somewhat frustrated by TP last year and might have turned off notifications however, since we need to phase out remind, this will be how I communicate to you in real time. Look for test messages from me in the next week or 2.

The kids are doing some AMAZING work! I’m looking forward to a great year together.
