Hello Viper Vanguard Family!
A huge congratulations to the program for STRAIGHT SUPERIOR ratings at FBA MPA on Saturday. The kids gave an outstanding performance and we were fortunate to dodge some rain and get a great show on the field. Both Mr. Emmert and I received such wonderful feedback from folks who saw us.
We have one more week in the marching season to go.
FFCC Championships are Saturday!
The event is at West Orange High school and is a prelims-finals format. They will take the top 6 scoring bands from prelims into the finals show at night. Our prelims performance time is 2:42pm, and we are the 4th band of 12 to compete in our class. The schedule for Saturday is as follows:
- 8:00am- Rehearsal at LBVHS
- 10:00am- Rehearsal concludes, load trucks- food break
- 11:00am- Meet in band room- get into uniform
- 11:30am- Depart for WOHS
- Noon- Arrive at WOHS
- 1:30pm- Prelims Warm Up
- 2:42pm- Prelims Performance
- 4:48pm- Prelims Awards
- 5:30pm- Load busses and return to LBVHS (tentative plan)
- 6:15pm- Dinner at LBVHS
- 7:15pm- Load Busses and Head BACK to WOHS
- Finals performance time TBD, but would be after 9pm.
The post prelims plan is very much up in the air. Awards for finals will occur around 10:30pm and would put us back to LBV around Midnight-12:30. I will try to keep everyone updated on Remind.
As far as the week is concerned- regular marching band rehearsal schedule
- Tuesday- 5:30-8:30
- Wednesday 2:30-5:30
- THURSDAY- Short Wind Ensemble rehearsal after school 2:30-3:15
NEXT MONDAY is our FIRST CONCERT OF THE YEAR!
We will feature the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and both Jazz Bands in a fall concert with a tribute to veterans. The concert will begin at 7:00pm and will be FREE! Call times for ensembles will be determined this week. Dress will be all black for symphonic band and jazz 2. We will attempt to get Wind Ensemble and Jazz 1 in tuxes and dresses this week.
OUR INSTARAISE FUNDRAISER WAS A SUCCESS!
We managed to raise over $11,000, which is great! More information on future fundraisers forthcoming.
Monday, November 18 we will once again host OCPS All-County Band Auditions at LBV.
We will need our band students to step up and volunteer to help run the event. This volunteer service will be a great way to earn service hours needed for clubs and bright futures. Students auditioning will have their times posted early next week.
